Stocks to Watch Today: Reliance, Jio, Trent, IndiGo | October 30
Reliance, Jio, Trent, IndiGo, Suzlon and other stocks are in focus on October 30 as earnings, rising crude oil prices and market risks shape investor sentiment.

India’s stock market is showing two very different sides of the story. The Nifty 50 jumped 1.05% to close at 22,936.75 on Thursday, October 29, raising hopes of a stronger recovery. But rising crude oil prices, geopolitical tensions and pressure on smaller stocks suggest the rally may not be as comfortable as it looks.
Brent crude hovered around $116 per barrel as concerns over Middle East supply disruptions weighed on global sentiment. Yet Indian equities opened higher on Friday, with investors tracking fresh corporate earnings and major company announcements. The question is no longer just which stocks are in focus. It is whether improving earnings can withstand a more difficult economic environment.
1. Global Markets and Crude Oil: The Risk Investors Cannot Ignore
Higher oil prices matter for India because the country relies heavily on imported crude. If prices remain elevated, the impact can spread through fuel costs, transportation expenses, inflation, and pressure on the rupee.
For businesses, this can mean thinner margins. For consumers, it can mean more expensive goods and services. For investors, it creates a difficult calculation: even companies reporting healthy growth may face higher costs in the coming quarters.
Domestic institutional buying has helped support the market, but global uncertainty remains a risk. A strong trading session does not automatically mean the underlying concerns have disappeared.
2. Reliance and Jio: Can Earnings Match Expectations?
Reliance Industries and Jio Platforms are in focus as they announce their September-quarter results.
For Reliance, investors will look for signs of recovery in its oil-to-chemicals business, alongside performance across retail and digital services. For Jio, subscriber additions, average revenue per user (ARPU) and the outlook for its digital businesses will be important indicators.
Jio’s results carry additional significance because they mark its first quarterly earnings announcement since its separate listing. That makes the numbers an early test of how investors assess the business independently.
However, expectations can become a problem when they run too high. Strong earnings may already be reflected in a share price, while even a decent result can disappoint if investors were expecting more.
3. Trent and IndiGo: Growth Is Only Part of the Story
Trent reported a 25.3% year-on-year increase in consolidated net profit to ₹468.09 crore for the September quarter. Revenue rose approximately 22% to ₹5,873 crore, highlighting continued growth in its retail business.
But investors will also watch its leadership transition. Noel N. Tata is set to step down as chairman on November 11, with Bahram Vakil scheduled to take over on November 12. The key question is whether the company can sustain its growth momentum through the transition.
IndiGo’s parent, InterGlobe Aviation, narrowed its September-quarter loss to ₹1,879.1 crore from ₹2,582.1 crore a year earlier. That is an improvement, but the airline remains exposed to rising fuel expenses and rupee depreciation.
For IndiGo, reducing losses is encouraging. Returning to sustainable profitability is the bigger test.
4. Suzlon, IEX and Vedanta: Read Beyond the Headlines
Suzlon Energy reported a 69.2% year-on-year decline in net profit to ₹394 crore, even as revenue increased 26% to ₹4,869 crore. The sharp profit decline needs context: the previous year included a substantial one-time deferred tax benefit, making the comparison less straightforward than the headline suggests.
Indian Energy Exchange (IEX), meanwhile, reported a 12.9% increase in consolidated net profit to ₹139.2 crore. Electricity trading volumes rose 12.7% to 39.7 billion units, offering a clearer picture of business activity.
Vedanta Group’s proposed investment of around $25 billion over three years also puts expansion plans in focus. The important questions are how the spending will be financed, how quickly projects will be executed, and whether the investment generates sustainable returns.
5. Other Stocks on Investors’ Radar
Coal India, Sagility, Blue Star, Capital Small Finance Bank, Brigade Enterprises, Garware Technical Fibres, CAMS, Vedanta Power and Rail Vikas Nigam are among the other stocks attracting attention because of quarterly results and corporate developments.
More than 200 companies are scheduled to report results on Friday, making company-specific announcements a potential driver of market movement.
The Bottom Line: A Rally Is Not a Risk-Free Signal
The market has reasons to be optimistic: several companies are reporting growth, domestic investors are providing support, and earnings are creating fresh opportunities for stock-specific movement.
But the risks remain real. Expensive crude, geopolitical uncertainty, and uneven corporate performance could challenge the recovery if conditions deteriorate.
Investors should look beyond headline profit growth and examine margins, cash flows, debt, future guidance and valuations. A stock making headlines is not automatically a stock worth buying.
